Take Action Now!

Contact your Legislators... tell them REFORM BEFORE CUTS

While the first vote to rescind the 3% pay raise that was bargained for in good faith over two years ago failed, the Senate will vote on this again soon.  State Employees have already made concessions, suffered closures, furloughs, and reductions in staff.  They have already paid!

  Write your legislators now!

Send Democratic Senators a "Thank You" for standing for us and voting NO!  It is CRITICAL that they hear from us as this will be voted on again and we need to ensure their continued support.

Budget Proposal Would Slash 5 More Prisons

Governor Granholm introduced her FY '10-'11 Budget Proposal today.  Specifically for Corrections it calls for the re-instatement of "good time credits" and the use of electronic monitoring outside the prison walls.  These reforms would result in a decrease of the prison population of approximately 7,500 inmates within 4 to 6 months and therefore the closure of 4 to 5 prisons starting October 2010.
